A blogger I follow recently did a presentation to her son's fourth grade class about her son and his autism.

Wow! That actually made ME understand autism better, and I thought I was already understanding it fairly well. Her analogies were so helpful. I think this might help my 13yo NT ds understand it better -- and maybe even help him be more tolerant of his siblings.

I'm so awed by this mom and the teachers (and the kids). She has such a great grasp of her ds needs as well as sounding so phenomenally patient!

I really enjoyed reading that, thanks so much for the link. It helped me understand things better too. I have toyed with the idea of doing something similar in my DS's classroom. I don't think I could do as well as she did and I would be so nervous. I hope that his classmates would be as understanding as those kids.
