Hey gals,

OK, so I have been ranting and raving about my never-ending frustration with getting Nick to shower/bathe and brush his teeth.

Christine,

I think you did the right thing. I know my kids -particularly Peter does better with stuff when he understands the underlying reason *why* he needs to do them.

I think what you did was fine, too.

Thanks Paula,

I sure hope this works as I am out of ideas short of dragging him in there myself!

Just an idea but also how about adding a chart to your new routine. I know Chad is very visual and seems to like the chart with pictures. We go through the day and make sure he did all of his "chores."

Hi!

We have tried the reward charts and the calendars with the stickers on the days that he "should" shower, etc.

Hey Christine,
Just a quickie here, cuz I'm babysitting my 2 yr old GS and he's EVERYWHERE!!! But I had some really good success with those loonytunes toothbrushes. I think thats what their called. They play a song for like 2 min straight which helps them brush longer.

You should try it for the teeth.

Geez! I wish I could find something to make my boy wash!!!

He is almost 13, I don't think I need to tell you how that smells!!!

I have tried all sorts of things, like Nick he is fine once in there, although using soap doesn't always happen.

Maybe I will try the pictures, when he was around 5 I did show him pictures of head lice close up to get him to have a haircut!!!

His teeth are also a problem. I have even tried telling him that until he cleans his teeth he needs to stand a long way from me when he talks as his breath is very offensive & soon he will end up with black teeth & I will not pay for a dentist to fix them!!!

Hi Christine,

We have been dealing with this same issue for a long time.
