Has anyone heard or done a Fast Forward program? We may have the opportunity to do a session this summer.

Opinions please.

It's Fast ForWord (for wOrd) which is an auditory processing type program. It basically trains the ear to hear better.

I haven't done that one with Mike. They tried earobics at school (similar but cheaper and you don't have to be specially trained) and he hated it. It really bugged him. Fast Forword is I believe a daily thing at a center for 6-8 weeks. If it was offered in school (and they had a provider there) it might be ok for him, but a new place like that for that long on an activity he doesn't like. Well usually that doesn't turn out positive. Though he may be able to do it soon. It is rather costly though and not usually covered by insurance. This one is more well documented.

We have done TLP (the listening program) at home before. It also was a daily thing but at least it was just at home. He was not a fan but we would sit together during the sessions and that was ok.

I was just looking up information on interactive metronome and sensory learning. Those sound interesting and promising too. My boss is a IM certified provider. I just have to convince her to do it for me at a bargain rate (like free). Some insurances cover it but I couldn't get my neuro to refer us for it. Pretty sure mine wouldn't cover it anyway.

It's a pity Sio (sio64) isn't here anymore. I am pretty sure she did this with her son, Liam, who has CAPD. If I remember correctly, she saw good results and liked the program a lot.

I woudl definitely look into it if I were you. If he hates it, you can pull him, right?

Don't know yet, that is why I'm asking so when I do call I an ask these types of questions.

I'm calling to set up an evaluation today.

Thanks.

If recovery from a PDD is to be had, it won't be fast at all.

It is a therapy, but doesn't promise to "cure" anything. It helps with auditory processing problems and language (plus others, but this is what I'm interested in for my DS). My DS has major auditory problems and I wanted to give him a jump start before he starts kindy in the fall. I can't believe how academic kindy is! When I was in kindy, which was a looooong time ago, it was basically for socialization. My how times have changed.

my DS is kind of the same, but if a computer is involved, he can focus on that for hours. The only problem he may have is when the break for snack and social time every 3 games. He will not like stopping at all! LOL.
