Fastest IEP In the West!

Since they only allowed 30 minutes for Claire's IEP this morning, it was probably a good thing that just said "yes" to everything I suggested.

We're pulling her out of Spanish to work on keyboarding skills. They're going to try having her eat lunch in an area outside of the cafeteria. They also noted on the IEP that there is to be no conduct grade.

Oh...but the BEST part is that the new autism consultant (the district has finally contracted with an outside organization) has been watching Claire to get some baseline behavioral data on her. NO JOKE...in a ten minute period of time they had to redirect Claire 37 times! Redirection came from not only the teacher and her 1:1 but also her classmates!!!! So the autism consultant/behavior specialist is putting together a plan to help reduce the amount of redirection. HOW COOL IS THAT??? They're working towards an actual goal...and she's got a plan in place, with data, to achieve that goal!!!
I AM SOOO STINKIN' EXCITED!

WoooHOOO! that is a great thing for her! wow, the consultant actually counted 37 times! that many redirections in itself is distrating!

30 min! they actually were done in 30 min! I've never had one less than an hour, even when they agree to everything.

You rock, and so does your autism consultant.
