Finally a book that looks helpful

I so rarely buy books on Autism anymore as I am invariably always disappointed: they are either about more severely impacted families or pure stereotypical Aspie types, that I get frustrated and "lend" it to someone.
I was in Barnes and Nobles yesterday (retail therapy and respite after a loooong week/year;), and of course I end up at the Special Needs section (which is way too small if you ask me). Anyhooooo, I bought All Cats have Aspergers for our family doctor (whom I adore and is so fabulous with all my kids), and a book called:
Parenting your Asperger Child: Individualized Solutions for Teaching Your Child Practical Skills.
I normally wouldn't be bothered except it had an entire chapter devoted to Aspie subtypes. I was floored, finally a book that doesn't just think all aspies are created equal. Liam is most definitely Predominately Fantasy, with a bit of Angry/Resistant thrown in. So far I've only been dipping in and out (you try and read a book from beginning to end with my three biting my ankles), but am looking forward to getting through it all. Just thought I'd share.

that does sound promising! hope you can get through w/o having to reread everything 10 times over, I remember how difficult it was having more than one child under age4 (and I'm so thankful that they do grow up!)
Hi Dee,
I am reading that book right now!
Can you tell me what the cover of that book looks like ?
Purple title with a little boy in a green shirt flying an airplane on the bottom right. The authors are Alan Sohn and Cathy Grayson.
hth,
Dee
Dee,
This is one of my favourite books. Cathy Grayson( the author )is my school districts autism consultant ,how lucky am I! I've talked to her a couple of times on the phone, she knows her stuff. She has social skills class that cost a fortune and she dosen't take insurance. My sisters little girl is starting in one of her groups next month so I'm dying to see how her groups compares to the school districts. I'll keep ye posted.

P.S
I love that picture of the wee one!
