First day at new school tomorrow
12
Mon, 06-25-2007 - 12:23am

After 3 1/2 years at the same school and 3 years with the same teacher, Mike has graduated and is moving on. We decided to have him start at his new school during ESY to help make a smoother transition for him while it is calmer and he doesn't gain stress over the whole summer.

Tomorrow is d-day. He and I are both a bit anxious I believe. He more so but he is handling it like a trooper. Of course I got to listen to the litany of the ESRB video game ratings of all the games he wants ala Rainman.

About 1/2 way through the litany I asked him if he was anxious about tomorrow and he answered YES! This is awesoem for him because he usually cannot verbalize that even if you ask. HOWEVER, when I tried to expand or go over a schedule to help he just ignored me and went back to the litany "...and that one is T for Blood and Violence...." Ah well. It was a start!

I have told him I will drop him the first couple days and stay until he is comfortable with me leaving. That helped. So we shall see.

Wish us luck. They don't take kids with severe behaviors there. Mike hasn't had a serious outburst at school in 2 years but they still were skeptical when reading his behavior plan. If he is going to have a serious outburst it will be in the beginning most likely due to all the changes. Pray that doesn't happen and they don't kick us out.

Prayers, positive thoughts, and white light on its way!

Good for him to tell you YES! What you said must of been such a relief to him.

I sure hope it goes well, in fact I KNOW it will!

Hugs to both you and Mike :)

(((((Hugs & Prayers)))) are headed your way. I know this is huge for your guys, but from what I've read, Mike's made a lot of major gains in the past year. I remember how well he was able to keep it together when all of that stuff was going on with his aide! I was hugely impressed, and I'm sure we'll all be impressed this time around.

I'd say this one calls for St. Pio~ Pray, Hope, and DON'T WORRY!!! Yeah, I know...much easier said than done, right? ;-P

Thanks Amy and all.

By Saint Pio do you mean Padre Pio? I didn't know he was patron of that kind of stuff heck I keep forgetting he is a saint now. HOW way COOL! I am definitely going to. Heck I am going to be positive and say I don't need St. Jude in this situation (impossible cases). I will make sure to throw a little Francis in there as he is my fave.

Yes, Yes...Padre Pio. Don't worry, I always forget that he's a saint now! When we were in Atlanta we visited a monastery (sp?) and I picked up a worry coin with St. Pio's "motto" and a window sticker for the van. Not sure if I'll ever be able to give up the worrying though...it's what I'm best at!

Fingers, toes and various appendages are crossed for Mike to have a great few weeks.

There is an Irish saint who is supposed to be good for this stuff.

Ah...good ole St. Dymphna. Patron Saint of Neurological Disorders (and many other things I might add, including incest victims.)

As you may be able to tell, I find this facet of my faith fascinating...and at times, hysterical! I mean, the image of St. Bartholomew walking around holding his skin...GEEZUS! Who'd want THAT hanging in their wall?!?!?
