First Day of Preschool

Matty's first day of preschool was this morning. He cried when he left on the bus, as expected but nonetheless heart wrenching.

When he was dropped off, the driver said he stopped crying immediately and then none at all on the way home. i was flabbergasted!! granted, it is only a 30 second drive up the street. but i chose the bus because i thought he would have problems separating from me if i drove him. then the teacher called and said that he did great. i was very happy. we have worked for months and months to prepare him for this. matt is nonverbal and it's hard to know what he is understanding. but what a great feeling. hopefully tomorrow will go just as well.

Val,

Well, you are braver than I am. both years Peter was in preschool, I followed the bus for the first several days!

I am delighted the experience was such a positive one for both of you and that he did so well. I so remember how nerve-rackign those first days of preschoool are!

Val,

I'm glad everything went well for Matt. How did you do??? I always worry about Nathan, but for some reason he does well at school. Hopefully, this will be the same case with Matt. It's surprising how they can hold it together. I learned that Nathan is capable of doing things that I never knew he was. Last year, they complimented on how smart he is, and this year his teacher actually used the word "intelligent". I'm not always sure that they're talking about my child!! LOL Best of luck on his "2nd" day of school!
