The good news is that Siobhan had a good time.
The bad news: due to several communications breakdowns; some on my part, most on the part of the school, she was outside in blazing sunshine for 6 hours with no sunscreen.
Despite the huge number of adults at hand, and the fact that she is supposed to have

Oh, I am sooo sorry for your little one. I hope she heals up fast. And I don't know why it's always our kids who get hurt! It shouldn't be that hard to remember sunscreen with first graders.
Hang in there.
Theresa
Honestly now, how hard is it for somebody to remember to ask our kids individually (not as a group of 20+) if they put sunscreen on? It's the shared parapro I'd be ticked at!
Here's hoping your little angel heals fast. If she can tolerate ibuprofen, it helps my kids (and me) a lot when it comes to dealing with sunburn pain.
Hugs to you...but not to her...it would hurt too much. :-(
Amy
Paula,
Oh man, that sucks.
hope your little one feels better soon.
i've found natural live yoghurt works great on sunburn.
get the plain one though.when i burnt on my honeymoon, someone told me to try it.put it on the burnt area and leave for about 10 mins.it takes the sting out.
i could only get strawberry flavour in greece, not plain so it didn't smell to good, esp when maid walks in while naked and covered in yoghurt.
it really does work though and it doesn't cost a fortune.
love yvonne xxx
LOL@ Yvonne, not laughing at your sunburn, but you poor thing with the maid walking in lol. I could picture that and probably would want to die!
Paula, your poor baby, I would be furious too! I hope its getting better and its not too painful. I know you can't have your child do this, but as an adult, when I get a really bad burn, I take the hottest shower possible and for some reason it really takes the sting out after that. I never knew about the yogurt tho, so I might try that if it happens a next time. I mean yogurt sounds so much better than the HOT shower lol.

Thank you all for your replies and support.
She is doing better today. She did blister a little bit on her forehead and across her nose, but not on her body. Thank heavens for that aloe/lidocaine gel stuff you can get! That really helped her. Yvonne, I remember the yoghurt remedy (now that you reminded me! LOL) but in all honesty, I think lidocaine is probably better! ;)
Amy: Yep I gave her an Advil before bedtime, and she slept through the night (I didn't!). I will do the same thing again tonight.
I took her to the Mall today to buy a whole new summer wardrobe: long pants and capris, long-sleeved shirts, UV shirts to wear in the pool

Oh Paula!!
Poor kid, you know, you'd think that there would of been exta sunscreen floating around somewhere. What they don't reapply?
Poor kid, hope you gave that girl some tylenol to help ease some of the pain.
You should be P*$$ed off. I would be livid too.
Is this her first "burn"?
Now you need to watch big time cause of the tendency of burning like this in the future, then again, you'll be prepared.
(hugs)
