The flu shot

I just had Ella with the doctor this morning and she has an ear infection. The poor little girl is miserable and just wants me to hold her all day which is fine ny me because she usually wants no part of hugging or holding. I talked to the doc about whether Ella had SID or if she even thought SID could exist without another disorder. She said she had never seen a patient who just had SID. I'm confused because I thought it could. Not that it matters what the label is but I just want her diagnosed correctly. While I was there she remimded me that I hadn't given either one of my children the flu shot. I'm sick of feeling like a bad mom just because I refuse the flu shot every year. My kids stay home with me so they are not exposed a great deal to the virus. I have never refused to give any other shots even though I have many concerns still about the shots and the controversy about the link to autism. I still don't know what I believe about it all. Do you give your kids the flu shot and can SID exist on it's own?

LR or Renee,
I'm very interested about how to use the garlic olive oil. The doc didn't put her on an anti-biotic yet because it's a mild ear infection. We used amoxicillan for her last infection and it was a nightmare. She had a bad reaction to it. She was covered in spots and after only using it for 2 days got a bad yeast infection in her mouth. I want to avoid using anti-biotics as much as possible because we just have not had good experiences with them. Jake ended up with clostradium after a couple of rounds of heavy dose anti-biotics. Can I use the olive oil alone to treat the infection especially because it's mild. How do you apply it and how often? Thanks for the help!

I have olive oil where I take cloves of garlic, peel them and put them in the olive oil and let them soak. I use it for salad dressing, cooking, etc. It is fine on the shelf.

Then when they have an earache I take a little of this oil, put it in a dish and micro it for maybe 10 secs. I test to make sure it isn't too warm then use a q-tip, soak it in the oil and use it to drop a couple drops in thier ear. It may help with little ones to have them laying in your lap with the offending ear up just soothing them and drop it in like no big deal before they have a chance to know, lol. Just make sure it isn't too warm. Let them sit like that for a few then lay the other way.

Check with LR to see for sure. I know when cleaning ears you don't leave it one side for too long. It was never a big deal with my kids with the oil. They are older and it was Emily I used it on last. If it bugs them one way I just tell them to lay the other way. No biggy.

It worked like a charm for Emily last time.
