At Peter's recent Dr's visit I was asked to sign them (and us) up for the flu shot.

Dear Paula,

I hear ya. We have never had flu shots, but I do question the MMR we had given to Malcolm. Maybe it made a difference, maybe it didn't, but I'm not willing to risk it at all again. And our ped is pretty cool about our choices now.

Anyways, Malcolm is as healthy as a horse, which may be in part due to refusing to completely wean til way after 4 years old... And I have never had a flu shot in my life, Cliff either, also we have all never had flu. Crossing fingers, but I am much more comfortable building our immune sustems alternative methods and staying away from Thimerosal.

I agree. Before I even heard about this whole link of shots to autism, I remember questioning Chad's health after his shots.

Well I only ever had the flu shot once (in college), and I think I may have had the flu as a kid, but I'm not too sure now, lol. Liam had the flu shot as an infant (at his 6 month and 9 month checkups,) and he always, always has had adverse reactions to shots in general (fevers, red injection site etc).

Did you know there is 25 micrograms of thimerasol in the fu shot....terrifying really. Nope no flu shots here, and actually Roan is completely non vaccinated (bar the vit K shot at birth). This is why we still nurse, although she has no intention of stopping anyway, lol. At age two we shall revisit this and make some decisiopns as to what she'll get if anything. And as for the MMR, Liam had the first one, Cian's had none, only if they'll spilt it up and only if I don't have to pay out of pocket....yeah right, like that'll happen in today's paharmaceutical tyrannical world...sigh!

Strangely enough both my DD and I get the flu shot every year. I am a nursing student & she was a premmie with severe asthma. She has also had every available vaccination as she is prone to anything going. Thank goodness she had the chicken pox shot as it made her dose of the pox a mild one when

I think I read in a recent magazine article that the Flu Mist (nasal spray) vaccine does NOT have thermisol AND it's supposed to be 50% more effective than the the shot. It's a live vaccine, so you have to be careful if you have other health problems like asthma. The elementary schools around here are offering it for free, so I've signed my kids up. We'll see how they do when it's administered in a couple of weeks.
