Found out AS ds has AS friend

At back-to-school night, we discovered that AS ds has an AS friend in his class. The parents aren't so sure that their ds is AS (not denial, they're just not sure the school correctly diagnosed him and that the symptoms fit; they see some behavioral challenges like ADHD, etc but not the AS). Anyway, this other family was telling me about all the problems they've had with the school. I guess since my ds hasn't had behavioral challenges at school, I've been in la-la land about how great my school is, but I guess really we've just been blessed to not have to deal with the reality of AS at school since my ds is a milder AS. It's nice, though, to find another AS family and to find that our boys are friends of a sort. They talk about each other a lot, but so far they've never tried to get together to play outside of school, and I don't think they really play much at recess together, either. The other boy actually played much better with my 10yo ds because they're both active boys while my AS ds is much lower energy. At least it's nice for our boys to feel like they each have a friend at school.

It's funny how they find each other, isn't it?

That sounds great.
The one little guy that Mike really sees eye to eye with is another AS guy who is obsessed with video games. They live about 1/2 hour away and we have mutual friends so it is rare they get together but when they do those boys can walk the playground for hours discussing Sly Cooper or Jak and Daxter.
Cait has finally made a friend when she went to her AS program (the one good thing) and it is another boy with AS.
I have to say all the friends my aspies have that have stuck and they really connected with are other Aspies. I mean it still isn't friendships like typical kids, they don't call each other a lot etc, but they get each other.
