fragile x testing

Pediatrician ordered Fragile x test for my son (PDD-NOS). I view it as a way to rule something out, but part of me is afraid it will come back as Fragile x. My son is a struggling learner and we're homeschooling because of that and behavior problems, but I always considered him bright. Other people do too.
I just wondered if others had the fragile x test. I read that 5% of autism spectrum disorder cases is attributable to fragile x.

this came up recently in another thread. I am sorry to be lazy, but I bumped it up. The title is "We had the first consultation today"

Yes, we got the test when ds was about 17 mos due to his hypotonia (low tone) dx.
Our pediatric neurologist ordered this test for my son as well. It came out negative. Usually there are physical characteristics if the child has Fragile-X Syndrome: only one horizontal crease in the palms instead of two, a bit odd facial structure (narrow face, large ears).

We had DS tested after his inital DX when he was 2 1/2.....it was negative.
Usually fragile x kids has ver distinctive characteristics. My friends brother has it, he is an adult and it is completely different than the autims my son is afflicted with.
