I noticed the discussion about the 9yr old starting to suddenly hit. Are the children all acting up at this time? My son has been more violent and verbally aggressive lately. He is swearing and very disrespectful. At the drs. visit son said " Dr. you are basing your dx and meds for based me upon my mother's lies about my behavior". The words from my son's mouth infuriated me. If I say to wear a coat it's raining son says it only drizzle I don't need a coat. It goes on & on. Last time his behavior was this bad was end of summer before school started. The dr claims son's actions are because of the dx(as & bipolar). Dr suggested that I look up info online. I may have taken the drs head off because of that suggestion. I have read/bought nearly every book that has been suggested on this board, bipolar board, library and bookstores.
Son is doing great at school and for that I am grateful. Home is another story. I agree with the other posts, this board is a wonderful place to visit.

{{{decson}}}} you sound like you need a hug! The doctors right tho, there is something about a group support thing that does wonders for you. You can read all the books in the world, but if you don't have anyone to give you a hug, and understand what your going thru on a hard day, then you will loose it.

I just started myself (10 yr old son is being tested right now) but I love this place. I struggled for so many years thinking his behavior was a result from my parenting, and had extreme amount of guilt to go along with it. But now that I read the same exact behavior that my son (and also youngest son) show, I realize its not me, and sometimes I just can't control the behavior, because for them, its like a compulsion, and its something thats wired wrong in there brain, instead of them just being sassy, or uncooperative little brats lol.

Stick around, you will love it!

A bit of both, but I wouldn't say full moon I would say holidays.

Holidays are particularly stressful for our kids even if they love them and are excited. All the anticipation, excitement, overstimulation, extra activities, extra lights, schedule changes, changes in thier environment, and Stores..dear lord the stores.

At anyrate, it is enough to send the most mild of aspies into a tailspin some years. We always notice a change from halloween straight through until the end of our birthdays in the spring. But the absolute worst time in all of that is from thanksgiving through about mid to late January.
