Funny the effect of music!

Last night we watched the Grammies because DH was there working. It's a family thing to watch the shows and comment on who's using what, the sound, etc.

Anyway, Colin was calm about it, just watching and listening and talking about who's mics were being used. Then Paul McCartney came on, and Colin was saying how he liked Paul's piano (had lights all over it). Then Paul got up and sang/play "Helter Skelter," and Colin went wild. He got up and started dancing and jumping on me and screamed "Mom! This song blows my mind!" Can you imagine? I laughed and told him it blew some other minds a long time ago too, and that it was very famous.

After that song, he went back to regular watching and commenting. There must be something special about that song, and my boy who is totally into Dark Side of the Moon is now showing signs of being a serious "rocker."

That's too funny! Yes music can have a serious brain effect. I've always been very affected by music. I was serious rocker but I also like classical and other stuff too. DS, 4, seems to like Julie Andrews. LOL. A couple of times lately for some reason she has been on TV and DS would just stop what he was doing and watch her sing. Mesmerized. Interesting!

Yes! My DS, age 2, can listen to any piece of music -- classical, rock, whatever -- and pick out all the instruments playing. He'll sit there listening and calling them out: "Violin. Piano. Drums. Bass." It's amazing. His favorite song is "Mrs. Robinson," and periodically, out of nowhere, he'll start singing it -- all 3 verses, and once he starts you can't stop him! And this is a kid who is VERY language delayed and who still isn't really putting words together into phrases or sentences! I play the piano and he requests songs -- he seems to favor Mozart. I'm sure we'll start him on music lessons once he gets just a little bit older.
