Getting new floor. Boys coping okay.

After five years of living in this house, we've finally gotten around to replacing our old, variegated-browns, matted, shag carpet that has rips and splotches of moldy Ovaltine---with a nice wood (okay, wood laminate; we aren't made of money) floor. It's a do-it-yourself, snap in place kind, from IKEA. I've been living for this day, because the carpet is SO nasty.
However, I was kind of worried. Nathan has a history of being unwilling to step on unfamiliar surfaces with his bare feet. And neither of the kids likes change of any kind. A new floor is a big change, but so is the fact that this weekend, the furniture is all pushed to one side of the room, and there are patches of exposed concrete, etc. Not only that, but DH has been real busy doing most of that. It's pretty weird, but the boys are being great about it. Nathan likes walking on the new floor with his bare feet, YEAH! :) He won't step on the concrete, so I have to carry him across. But that's alright, because the concrete will be covered up soon.
I'm amazed at how well the boys have been doing with it. They've been playing computer games a lot today...and being so nice to each other. "Oh, Nathan, you're getting so good at this game!" "Oh, don't worry, next time you might get the triple laser." They've both been so sweet. It's great that they aren't screaming at each other or complaining about the floor. (Then again, the floor is only a third of the way done.)
Just thought I'd share.

YEAH for them!
Ya know, sometimes when I really expect the kids to give me a problem they come shining through.
We just got new furniture in the LR a few weeks ago. I thought for sure getting rid fo the old stuff and moving things around was going to be a problem but it went really well. Mike had alot of initial protests about the change and giving away the old stuff. But it was all done while he was at school. The old was gone, the new was in and was SOFT and squishy and he has never mentioned the old stuff since.
GOod luck getting it all in. Floors are a pain. I did a stone tile in our itty bitty bathroom and I was cussing by the end. LOL.
