I have been told the same thing. Private schools are great unless your child needs special services. Can the Doctor that diagnosed your son recommend someone perform an FBA to determine what your son's triggers are? Maybe the school can recommend someone. Tell the school that you want to have FBA before you move to a behavior contract because it makes no sense to to try and fix something if you aren't sure what's broken. From what little reading I've done on the subject it seems that often the thing you think is the most obvious trigger is actually not the one. Let the school know that you are as eager as they are to address these issues but that you want to be sure that everyone fully understands the root cause. Good luck.

I'm so sorry things are so rough at school. I hope everyone can come to an agreement on how things can be made better for him.

The meeting went well actually. I explained to them why he acts that way and that we can not use neg. reinforcement with him because he just clearly does not understand that what he is doing is wrong. They did not want to do a behavior contract. He got a happy chart instead. Every time he does what he is supposed to do on his chart, he gets to fill in the happy face. (ex. He said good morning to the teacher or he did his math work.)
