Wow! Your district district sounds completely different from mine. We have full day K, and absolutely no say on which teachers we would like for nest year.

You should really try to get in touch with local mommies and try and found out how things work in your district. If your district has a SEPTA (special Ed PTA) it is well worth joining.

You could set up his goals so that he starts out splitting time between his regular classroom and the resource class like he does now and build up to longer periods in his regular class. The measurable part of the goal would be the percentage of time spent mainstreamed but they must provide the supports to help him accomplish this. I would also make sure the sensory breaks and speech are included as well. Having a behavior plan so that everyone agrees on what to do when meltdowns do occur is important too. Lastly I would make sure that all staff that will be working with your son are educated about your son's Dx. Our biggest problem has always been with Specials teachers( music, P.E. etc) who are often left out of the loop during the IEP process. Good luck.
