Grandparents may be "gettin it"

Tonite my family gathered to celebrate my Dad's Bday.My siblings, 2sil and and 9 grandkids. As we sat, sis's girls told my son he could not sit near them. "these seats are saved for the other cousins". One cousin went as far as to kick my son under the table so he'd move. I stood back and watched (while silently gritting my teeth). Nana & Grampa scolded the girls!!!! When their mother spoke up, grandparents disagreed with her and defended my son! Mark this date on the calenders! One sil actually said "son was fine in his first seat, why did HE have to move?" It was handled discretely and nicely. The usual outcome would have been tears, screaming and some bad feelings between sis & I. It was a nice dinner. I enjoyed my neices & nephews and actually participated in adult conversation.Cousins all chatted together. It was a nice dinner. Just wanted to share some good times.

How wonderful.
I remember the day my mom used the word "autism" in a sentence without choking.
