Well I went to the special ed transition meeting........just forms to fill out to allow them to eval the kid to see exactly where he falls into with "help".

I knew 2 other moms in there from the speical ed preschool our sons attend.....that kinda felt good KWIM

So I'll be getting a call in a few weeks......keep ya posted on that one what they say. The "offical" orientation meetins is at the end of March.

*****************
So Adam's OT from school calls me Monday (he tested out of private ot last year, I kept the school OT for just in case).........she want's Adam evaled fo SID------------so now I just finally quit crying.....it just sux to constantly hear what's wrong with your kid...........Adam has alphabet soup at the end of his name PDD-NOS/ADHD--possible SID

SO.........here's my only brag I got lately, I get home from the meeting. My dad was watching him and Adam runs down from his room grabs his shoes and tells me "we goto mall now" LOL I LOVE RETAIL THEREPY
So we hit the indoor play yard, he made a friend whos' older sister is dx'ed funny cuz her mom picked up on Adam pronto and she and I got to chatting for a good 45 min....felt good to be in company all day of people who live a nutty life like all of us here. THEN a little boy who was VERY outgoing wanted to play with Adam and with my "help" had a REALLY GOOD FLIPPIN' TIME............I finally feel a little better.

Nora,

Just as an FYI to make you feel a bit better. SID just goes part and parcel with ASD. It is just part of the PDD package. They can add on all those labels if they so choose but it does not change who he is. I have rarely if ever met a kid with PDD who has not had significant SID issues as well.

The upside is, by doing an SI eval they can find out where he is not processing sensory information right and address it.

All 4 of my kids are sensory messes. All with different sensory issues. We have/had created our own sensory play room in our 4 season porch. I have weighted blankets, snakes, vibration toys, brushes, etc all around. I don't use them nearly as often as I used to.

They do learn to process things better and learn to accommodate for other things. But by getting early SI treatment you can reconnect some of those neurons while his brain is still so pliable.

Nora,

Renee is absolutely right. SID is part and parcel of our kids dx. In fact SID was Liam's only dx for around 2 years, then came the rest. Many OT's do sensory therapy as well as fine and gross motor. We have the ball pit, and am installing an indoor swing in the attic room soon (Ikea have cheap ones). Perhaps you could look into something like that too.

Thanks gals...........Adam is having a much better day today. He went to his typical preschool I put him in (just 2x a wk) and got a glowing report....slight transition issue but got over that quickly. His aid just left and we are waiting for insurance approval for him to goto the typical school w/Adam just for support. I've told these peopel 100x that we don't need services in our home and FINALLY they
