The bottom line is that both kids are doing great this year:

there was only one negative for each kid:

Siobhan is having trouble with math (no surprises there)

Peter's dysfluency (stutter), which they haven't "seen" since he joined that school in 1st grade (although it was on his IEP back then) has returned with a vengeance.

Now I know this is because of the larger class (this is his first year in a mainstream class) and the increased pressure. For him the stutter always comes out when he is under stress.

But here's the rub: He had his best grades EVER! That's the other thing about my son: Just like his Ma, the kid performs great under pressure!

Well the placement is successful and over all he is doing well right? That is fabulous.

Some ideas for the stutter thing (and it does get worse with stress) would basically be accommodations. Have them work to figure out specifically what activities he stutters worst in and make accommodations to those.

For instance, he may need more visual supports, more time to complete certain assignments, social stories or script for stressful social situations. Really depends on what the cause of the stress is for him more specifically than it being the general ed class. He could need more sensory breaks, more frequent breaks overall, etc.

Hi, Paula!

I think you really have the only solution, you need a log and data. Then you can see if there is a pattern.

Here are my blind guesses as to what is going on...

1) Maybe in the past, dysfluencies were only an effect of stress, but now, it may be that knowing that he had had a dysfluent episode is
