Hannah came home with bruises

I got another pathetic email telling me she had a bad day and nothing more. Then I was getting dd ready for ballett and I saw three fingerprint bruises on her thigh near her hiney. I asked her what happened and she said, "my teacher did it". Then I saw the other leg with bruises as well and one bruise on the inside of her knee has a fingernail gouge, the skin is broken (but not bleeding). I was horrified. Hannah wouldn't say anything else at that point. Dh & I talked to her, you know "we won't be mad at you, tell us so we can help," ect, ect. It wasn't till after ballett that I said if she tells me what happened I could consider homeschooling her. So she told me. It was the aide actually not the classroom teacher. She picked Hannah's chair up with her in it and carried her out of the room. I didn't get the story about what happned before or after. Dh & I are so upset. I was having a hard time breathing I was so angry and sad. This aide is a single mom of an autistic boy, btw. She's been with Hannah since 1st grade. We thought she was nice. We thought it was a good idea dd was with her again. Hannah thought she was her friend. We knew something was definately wrong at school since she's been having such a bad time this yr but I wouldn't have guessed they were hurting her physically. She's had other buises before on the backs of her arms. Hannah is not going to school today, obviously. I don't know if I'll ever feel safe sending her back. :(

MY Goodness Samantha, that is so appalling. Talk to the school and make sure that they are aware of this. Where was the teacher when all this happened?

take care of the little girl and yourself,

Dear Samantha,

It just so happened this summer, when the bruises appeared, we had a doctor's appt. the nest day. This was for his yearly, the only time he ever sees the doctor, as he is such a healthy kid. We also took photos and pointed the bruises out to the doctor ... not that the bruises weren't pretty noticeable, BTW. The doctor noted in Malcolm's chart about the bruises, clearly gotten by use of too much force in restraint!

This will be handy if we ever sue this school. And, well, we might. But first we have bigger fish to fry.

I'd take her, can't hurt. And you'll have backup.

Oh Samantha...I'm sooooo incredibly sorry that your family is going through this. I can't add anything to what the others have offered, but please know that you're in my thoughts.

((((((Cyber hugs to your entire family!))))))

Hearing Hannah's experience has sent chills up my spine. I would take my son to the doctor for sure and keep him home from school indefinitely, that one for sure. I too think you are handling it so well, Hannah will be ok. Huge hugs for your whole family.
