Happy with our IEP

Well, I just typed a long message and then "Internet Explorer encountered a problem and had to shut down." Lovely.

Anyway, I just had an IEP meeting. David, 2nd grade, is going to get his own private office. Isn't that cool. Okay, so it's not a room with a view, but he's going to get to have an aide, who has David as her top priority, although she helps other kids, and when he needs a calm, quiet spot, he'll get to go to his "office" with the aide. His "office" will be a corner in the special day classroom for the time being, although he won't be a student in that class. They are doing a lot of construction on campus, but eventually there will be better options. The principal invited him the school today (after our meeting), and she showed him his "office", the construction, his general ed class, etc.) She's going to let him have a sign with his name on it, or whatever he needs to make this his special place. He'll get to go there whenever he needs to get away from the noise and excitement of the classroom.

Geez, he'll hovering right behind me, and I know he can read whole paragraphs in no time at all. He's not looking, though. I'd better go. He's getting antsy. LOL!

Evelyn (BTW, my Nathan turned 4 yesterday!)

That is fabulous. Glad you have an IEP you feel will work and you are happy with. I am glad they are being proactive and coming up with a plan to help him. It sounds really great.
