Have I entered an alternate reality?

Maybe this incident was a blessing in disguise. Maybe it was the wake up call that they needed to demonstrate that your kid has real needs that should not be ignored because it's detrimental to everyone involved. It's unfortunate that this is what it took but if what comes out of the whole stupid, stressful mess is that Tom starts getting the support he needs, at least there's that silver lining.
