why don't you try melatonin if all you really need is sleep. You don't need a perscription for it and can get it in any vitamin isle though I typically make sure I get more high quality ones, you can even get it at walmart.

Melatonin is a natural occuring chemical in your brain that tells you brain to sleep. Many of us use it with our kids even when they are little if they don't sleep well. YOu can start with a really small dose if you want or right with the usual 3m.

It often helps you fall asleep but may not help you stay asleep, it depends but it is what I would start with. Then you don't have to worry about a doc.

For staying asleep you can try 5HTP though that did raise my sons anxiety levels, it isn't supposed to do that but I would use that one with a little more caution.

If those don't work asking your doc for an anti-anxiety or a sleep medication would not be weird at all. There are studies on the effect of lack of sleep on people and you may be right about just needing sleep.
