Haven't been around in a while-update

We have been really busy lately and I haven't had the time or energy to regularly check-in here.

DS is doing well in school. After a few huge hurdles in the first few weeks of school things calmed down significantly. His teacher is really good but strict. Strict is what Everett needs but she is willing to compromise in certain situations. About two weeks ago my grandmother passed away and we had to go to Ohio for the funeral. I called the school to inform them that the kids would be out for a couple of days and if the teacher could please send home any work that needs to be done. When the sister (the principal) told Everett's teacher she cut some of his classwork down for the day and gave him no homework. Report cards come out next week and while I am not expecting A's and I certainly expecting B's and C's which is much better than last year. He usually has a report of some kind due each week and he has gotten into a routine with that. He writing skills have improved dramatically. Our old routine was I had to sit down with him and he would dictate to me what is to be written. Now he can write the reports on his own and sometimes gets the report done at afterschool and he is getting mostly A's on his reports. Because of the problems the beginning of the school year we had to take the video games away till Christmas with the ability to earn the games back earlier if he did all of his homework all week. The hasn't happened yet, but now the problem is mostly that he just forgot a certain book.

I have parent/teacher conference next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

On getting him in Summit school, well I hit a snag. When he was discharged from his old school they automatically closed his BOE case. I was told that the school did this. I can't understand how this can happen since the school didn't want his case opened in the first place. I was the one requesting that his case be opened. Luckily, I got a hold a good person at Region 9; she actually answers the phone and returns phone calls. She has been really helpful.

Just wanted to give a quick update. I keep you updated.
