I should have expected this:
Peter has NEVER attended during an eye exam.

Don't kick yourself Paula, we went through similar things with my 11yo DD and it really DID turn out she was part goofing around and part unable to understand the questions. 3 different drs gave her glasses. all radically different perscriptions, before we got her in with an opthomologist who had a clue. Turns out she didn't need glasses at all..... which was what I was trying to tell the other drs before! She needed Vision Therapyand LOTS of ST.

I must warn you, Sravan had 4 pairs of glasses and he broke one and lost one. So after he lost his first pair of glasses, we got the rope that he could use to hang it around his neck. That saved us from losing more. But we broke one due to tantrums at school. But I must say he is getting so much better afer a year of getting used to it.
Good luck,
Anandhi
Paula,
Have you ever noticed in pictures of Mike half the time he is wearing glasses and half the time he isn't. It is the bane of my existance but we are getting better.
The warranty for glasses if they get broken is a wonderful thing but they don't cover losses. We are again working on the glasses go in the case next to his bed at bed time and on his face in the morning. If he must take them off then they go IN THE CASE. It is a slow process but getting better.
Mike is a sensory sensitive guy so getting glasses that feel right is tough. We have found that transition sunglass type (though way more expensive) help with light sensitivities. If they don't feel right they spend more time off then on.
Mike's eyesight is attrocious. Poor guy got mom's eyes so it is only going to get worse for him. When I started wearing glasses once I got used to them I couldn't NOT wear them because I hated not being able to see. I can't figure out why he does it so much but they come off alot. Dad put him to bed tonight. Hopefully his glasses are in the Harry Potter Case next to the bed.

My ds broke his glasses during a tantrum at school too. I cried. They cost $300 to replace. He lost a pair too.

I got glasses this time that are nearly indistructable. The bridge is made of some bendable metal that keeps going back to it's shape. The hinges on the temples bend out as well as in. I can't remember how they are described. Still he has managed to tweak them. Mike keeps messing with them. I did get these because of tantrums and because he leaves them on the floor.
I don't know how we managed not to break one during a tantrum yet. He has tweaked a few but they were always fixable. Usually if you go back to the doctor they will untweak them for free.
And the warrantee is a great investment. We did have to replace one pair he broke but I can't remember how he broke them. Maybe it was a tantrum. But it was nice to have the warrantee.
