"I love you, Mom"
I about fell out of my standing.
This was on Saturday night (I've been sick since). The family went away for a long weekend, and we had had a lovely time. On Sunday It rained a lot, so we did more indoor activities, including several games of 'Fight Mom on the bed", where my two little proprioceptive sensory seekers get to slam, squish and "bash" Mom (And Mom responds in kind >:))
So that night, while tucking and kissing and Siobhan says "I love you, Mom" as she usually does, I responded 'I love you too". Then Peter said it! I responded in the same calm tone of voice "I love you too" and then I added calmly "thank you for telling me" and left the room. And struggled not to scream and jump around the place like a lunatic.
This is the fourth time in his life he has said it, and only the second time totally sober or unprompted. He will be 8 in july.

WHAAAAAAAA HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
OMG, that is so amazing Paula.
I'm so happy for you. That's just awesome!
Samantha
That's Awesome!!!! I too can count on one hand how many times my son has told me he loves me spontaneously.....he'll be 8 in May.

Dee,
Tanks! ;)
I think the squishing definitely had something to do with it; whether it flipped his system, or caused an extra degree of bonding with his old Mom. I used to do that sort of stuff with all the time when I was home, and since I started working FT again, well... it's become a rarity. :(
I have tried not to make too big thing out of the "I love you" question. I always tell him, and he usually says "I know" and I usually say "and I know that you love me" -so's he knows that I know and maybe to take the pressure off ('Terms of Endearment', how are you?).
Still, it was nice to hear.

Wow, that makes the whole trip worthwhile. I love when those moments happen. Stick it in the memory file box for the rough times to pull out as needed.
So wondering how the rest of the trip went. email me with all the lovely details:-)
