Ok, I can appreciate the processed food being thrown in when you are trying to get passed that.

Ahhhh no worries, once he tastes it he will discover that chef boyawhatshisface doesn't hold a candle to you.

BTW, all of you who like that ......stuff.....you are cordially invited for a REAL italian raviolli dinner at my house. Or lasagna, or mustacholi, or spaghetti, whatever you want.

I don't even use Ragu. Never have. Never will. DH's mom is a new york italian. It isn't allowed to cross the threshold.

Honest, it takes nothing to make a quick homemade sauce. I can even make an AWESOME pasta with fresh tomatoes, garlic and fresh basil and it takes a total of 30 minutes. I will teach you honest.

Throw that stuff OUT!!!!!!

Cute story, Paula! I bet he was trying to spare your feelings, in his own unique way.

Renee, sounds yummy! I can just smell that delicious aroma now! Throw in a great big red wine and we'll be there!

Sure, you all are invited.

Making sauce is soooooooooooo easy. Just a plain quick marinara sauce.

you need
2-3 cloves fresh garlic
couple tablespoons olive oil
2 cans of grocery store sized crushed tomatoes (or 1 of those monster sized wholesale cans)
dried italian seasonings (couple teaspoons or tablespoons. I never measure, lol)

Chop up fresh garlic. Brown it in olive oil. Not to long because it will burn but if you stir it frequently and wait until it is just browning it will be fine. Then add the crushed tomatoes and seasonings. get it to a slow boil and turn it down to very low. Simmer on low and stir occasionally for 30-45 minutes.

Once you get the sauce simmering you can put on water to boil for pasta. by the time your pasta is done, your sauce will be as well. Dinner in 30 minutes.

Or if you like a slow all day sauce just keep simmering it as long as you want. Stir regularly and keep it real low so you don't burn the sauce. Add meatballs or sausage if you like that. If you cook them in sauce for an hour or 2 they will be cooked too. If you like the taste of sausage but don't want to put that in you can add fennel seed in with your seasonings.

You can also add sauce you have started to your crockpot and let it cook all day in there. Works best if you get it to the simmer point then put in the crock pot. Or you can put it in the oven too on low.

Later I will tell you my recipe for pasta with tomatoes. yumm
