I hear you, Evelyn. As I have said before, I believe there is a special circle of hell for insurance companies. Our problem has always been denial for therapies. We are in the gray zone, Eric does not qualify for therapy at school, but does have delays and still needs therapy.

I am not exaggerating, his monthly bill for 2 sessions of St and 2 sessions of Ot per week is more than our mortgage payment. It is. But, soon we expect to be able to cut it back to just one sessions a week, so that will help.

Ironically, if we did have Eric on meds, those would be partially covered with a co-pay kind of like Dee's plan. But the therapies. Nope.

Also, don't know if anyone out there has looked into life insurance for their children. We considered getting a little policy that could be converted, god willing, to cash for college when he turns 18. Guess what? Eric was denied at 4 companies already. Two said call back when he is 8. I guess there is a risk table out there for ASD kids.

Sorry, the last two months haven't been very good. I seem to always be negative when I come here. But I really sympathize Eveyln. I hate insurance stuff with a vengeance. DH works for the state so we have our pick of many health insurance plans. Last open enrollment DH went to a lot of trouble to compare. None would cover ST or Ot for autism or developmental delays. Only in the case of loss of speech for the ST (like a stroke). Ot, not at all.

Maybe this is why there is a big exodus from Florida. PA looks pretty good to me!

Evelyn,

I am so sorry.

Health Insurance companies are bad, bad, bad.

Ours was actually pretty good.
