The begining of of this road is the toughest I think when you are going through the diagnosis process and soon after, followed closely by and big life transitions. You have a girl Aspie! So do I. Well I have one of each basically (1 aspie, one ASD/HFA/AS guy or there abouts). The girls are a bit more rare so we have to stick together!
I also understand the middle school concerns. My girl Aspie is in her 2nd year of middle school (7th grade) and my boy ASD guy is going to middle school next year. It is a whole different world.
(((HUGS))))) on the new diagnosis and welcome to our tight knit group where everyone is wonderful but no one really wants to join. We also welcome anyone but really wish you didn't have to join.
My 9-year-old son (PDD-NOS) was always lucky enough to have great medical care, and is now being homeschooled -- long story --- but is currently doing great in a challenging world.
We are very glad to have you join us. I am happy to hear your kids' school is willing to work with you. Ask away any questions you may have, there are lots of very experienced moms here as well as many people also just getting a diagnosis and starting out looking for help and services.
We look out for each other, have a few laughs and tears together, offer tons of support and advice, and even share online wine and chocolate...
We are hpappy for you to join us here. I have a quirky girl too. She is 6½, and officially 'at risk for Aspergers Syndrome".
Please pull up a chair and help yourself to coffee and cookies. Feel free to ask any questions you need, and to jump in on any discussions to offer advice -or even a hug.
sounds like you're on the right track to getting your DD the help she needs.
I'm a SAHM to 5. DS 15, DD 13, DS 10 (autie), DD 7, DS 5. next year I'll have 5 kids in 5 different schools! It was so nice when they were younger and all went to the same school!
I had no idea you were going through the evaluations etc... my DD currently has a PDD-NOS diagnoses, but the more I read Renee's posts about her Cait the more I think DD is an Aspie with a languaage delay..
anyway, hugs, this is a GREAT board and you will get tons of support and info.
and come back to aaf...we haven't seen you in a while...
