I'm in AA County, too. I don't remember her name, but when my ds had his first IEP/504 mtg, the special ed person from the school was unavailable, so they had the AA county special ed rep sit in on the meeting. I thought she was quite helpful. You might call the Board of Ed to see if you can get her name and talk to her about the problems you're encountering. I've found just about everyone else on the school board (incl the out-of-control and pompous superintendent) to be entirely corrupt, but the BOE special ed lady was good.
When we went through a redistricting recently, another parent with an AS ds referred me to the people listed below. I haven't used them yet, but the other parent found them very helpful. Although I would love to have my ds back at his old elementary school (better school), a big problem for me is that ds is finally making friends with a neighbor boy. I don't want ds separated from neighbor children nor my NT ds 'cus I think it's important for him to have those supports. At either school ds gives up something valuable now that we've been redistricted.
The ARC of Central Chesapeake Region - www.arcofannearundel.org Ms. Kathleen Flahive is the Director of Community Outreach Ms. Hannah Collord is her assistant. You can reach Ms. Hannah Collord for information and resource direction via email Fsupports@thearcccr.org or (443) 577-2120.
You might also try to get an out-of-area-transfer to any of the other schools your ds is interested in. You have to give a reason for your out-of-area-transfer request, but I think you have an EXCELLENT reason, esp if the school district thinks you're gonna raise a stink if they don't cooperate. If you could get an out-of-area transfer, that'd probably be easier on your ds than having to deal with the nasty people at his school who are clearly not interested in his best interest.
