Henry is auditioning for his school's spring musical tomorrow. He has been practicing singing "America the Beautiful" all weekend. We borrowed my dad's karaoke machine, and he's been standing on the sofa (for a stage) singing into the microphone. I've had him sing it to me several times with no music just so I know he knows the words.
He isn't the least bit nervous. I don't think he knows that people even get nervous about something like an audition. He just thinks it's something fun he gets to do tomorrow after school.
I was hoping the music teacher would let everyone who auditions be in the musical, but then I heard from a parent of some older students that she is really picky and only chooses the best ones for her musicals. I really hope she picks Henry.
Henry is a little confused about the difference between the auditions and the actual musical, so even if he isn't picked, he'll probably think the audition was the musical. But I'd still love to see him get to develop this interest.
I'm extremely proud of him no matter what happens. He's been working so hard.

way to go Henry! hope it turns out great. and PHHHHTTTT! on that music teacher for being so picky for a kids musical-- why not let everyone at least have a small part?!?!
