I read your post re: environment and about going to the zoo & the beach & Legoland. Do you live in San Diego? I live in Del Mar, Ca. I have a 10yr. old dd who is being evaluated now for ADD & Asperger's (in fact I meet the teacher & Psych. today )for another IEP. Anyway if you are local, let me know. Take care,Mary Ann
Out of curiosity what school district are you in?
Renee
As far as a 504, you don't need to fight. IT may be helpful in the interim while you wait for an IEP. It is available to anyone with a medical diagnosis in need of modifications. If your dd has a diagnosis from a doctor then it is basically a given. It basically provides modifications. Cait is on a IEP, but my 7 y.o. is on a 504. It is somewhat helpful. It is all he needs at this time, but it is pretty much expected that he will need an IEP at some point in the future.
It would be fun to get the girls together. What are your dd's interests. Mine is animals, especially horses. I have been trying to meet girls in our area for a while. Cait does have 1 good friend now. she is also playing nicely with the girls in school, 1 in particular. I always thought it may be a good idea to get her involved with girls with "similar" interests. We know lots of boys here in north county with AS, but no girls. What grade is she in? Cait is 9 next month and in 3rd grade.

She is busy, but try Sarah Turner. She is her collegue and does the friends clubs too. also a psychologist and I have heard good things about her.
I will give you a call. DH is off work this week and next and the schedule it pretty full but I would really love to get togther.
Renee
that will be fun. DH is off so we have been fixing house stuff (bought one with a large yard in nice area, but in need a huge amounts of repair last summer) and doing stuff with the kids. Cait is the only one in school this week. I am going to try to work out with him a good time to get together because I think that would be just great. Cait has a sister who is 4 years younger that she gets along great with as well.
About me. I am 34, married for 11 years, have 4 kids. I was a teacher until about 3 years ago. I taught autistic children mainly and for the last few years of teaching worked with young children with autism as a lead home educator/ ABA therapist. I varied between full and part time. I am now a SAHM. With 4 kids on different schedules I find I don't have time to work or the money to pay for daycare. It was really frustrating putting all my energies into other kids when my kiddo desperately needed the same interventions then, so I stayed home. Of my 4 kids, Cait is AS/PDD-NOS, Mike is ADHD with aspie and OCD tendencies (still trying to figure it out), Emily is NT and Dave we are still trying to figure out although he is ADHD and SID at least.
I will definitely give you a call.
