So far so good!

Kyle has been working really hard. I'm so proud of him and very impressed. He finished his powerpoint presentation in 3 days for dh. One day dh was out of the shop so Kyle worked on it independently for an hour. At home he's been working hard for me too. I haven't even heard a grumble about getting started. The only little problem we had was he hurried through a couple assingments and skipped the activities that went with them. I don't think he really understood he was supposed to do them though. I wish Hannah would be so cooperative!

I'm not sure I love Time4Learning the online curriculum we are using. The nice thing about it is you just pay monthly so if we decide to change its no big deal. I do think the online/computer format is good for Kyle though.

You know if this continues to go so well I'll be really tempted to homeschool him full time. I have to be realistic though, its probably just a honeymoon period.

Dear Samanatha,

That's great! And Kyle mustr be feeling happy, too, and so proud of himself.

We are still 6 months later having a great time with the homeschool part. If only there were other kids and dh and I didn't have to also both work fulltime...

Great to hear Samantha! I have been thinking of you. I looked at that site too and had Chris go thru the tutorial too see if it caught any interest. He really liked it, but then again, he easily likes something in the beginning, but then it can fade, so I worry about that.

I do like the fact that you pay monthly and can just stop if you need too. Is this the site that tani mentioned on the Dysgraphia Group?

Good luck! Chris is only going to school about half the time, and I'm really stressing over this myself.

I know I have some catching up to do myself, but you know I think it was awhile ago when she mentioned it. I think I have it bookmarked so I will take a look. I forgot about that. If I find it I will let ya know.

Hi Samantha:

I'm so glad to hear homeschooling is going so well and that Kyle wants to work hard, good for him! I'm hoping in time Hannah gets there as well. Are they both PDD/NOS and/or Asperger's?

I homeschooled my daughter with PDD/NOS and Asperger's since the beginning and it isn't going bad. She will sometimes fuss, but other times do things on her own. But she also has anxiety issues which can keep her from clear thinking and auditory processing problems so she needs medicine for anxiety and speech therapy.

Good luck with it and I hope it continues to go well and even better!

Paula,

Kyle goes to school in the morning from 8:30-10:30 for social studies and language arts. We started that on Monday. He did well Monday and Tuesday but had a difficult time yesterday. I didn't get any details from him or the school so I don't know exactly what happened. I do know he was upset about some special activities they are going to be doing. They are calling it a "cruise". I think he knows he can't handle the special stuff but feels bad about what he's missing out on. :(

The office staff were B@#!@'s before this and I think they managed to get a little more B'ier, lol. The aide asked for me to let her know how she could help me with the homeschooling. I found that odd. The special ed teacher has been great as always. The OT got suddenly cold. I have a meeting with the IEP team this morning so I'll see how the rest react. I've gotten a thick skin over the years and don't really care much what they think. I do want to keep a good relationship with them though because Kyle might go back full time next yr.

Well, the medicine didn't seem to help him handle anticipating the changes at school for the "cruise". We had cut him back to a half xanax though. Before yesterday he said he though it helped the bad feelings go away. The prozac will take a month to see full efectiveness though.
