We had our IEP meeting this afternoon and I am so discouraged and so upset and I just want someone who can help me figure out where to go next.

I'm not as up on the law as some of the other ladies around here and I'm sure you're going to get some better advice, but I don't think they can force you to medicate or homeschool your child. They are required to provide free and appropriate education. That is a federal law. Does your state education dept. have special ed. division? What about Autism groups in your community? I hope there is someone who can help advocate for you and your son. Kindergarten IS alot different than when we went to school but that seems like a long time to go without a play break. It's like they have forgotten what it's like to be a kid. I would dig my heels in and make them come up with the right placement.

Heather,

I noticed where you lived and Googled "Pa Special Education Advocate" and a ton of sites came up.

Heather,

DH and I have been involved with an advocacy lawyer here in the Lone Star State since February of this year.

The first thing you need to do is sit down with your hubby and document what you think the school has done to your son and what you want done about it.
