I can nag and nag, but my 10 year old thinks he is the only one in the world. He only cares about his needs. He is mean to his brothers. He wants to win and or get his way at any cost. Can a child with Asperger's be taught to be considerate of other's feelings? I have been trying since he was 2 to get this stuff across to him. I know that autism, by it's nature, makes people unaware of how others feel, but he has to get this somewhat to function in the world. Any insight?

Hi, i just took my 10 yr. old dd (AS) to a psychologist because her biggest problem is in interacting with kids at all. She is starting a social group in the fall. She conducts the groups of 3 kids (separate boys from girls) and she gets them to interact & be socially acceptable. She videotapes the kids & then they watch their behavior & discuss it. They also play games, cook, go out to eat once & awhile, etc. Anyway these groups are 1X weekly & I hope it will help her to get along in the world of personalities. Just thought I'd share.~ MaryAnn - mom of Jenna(14) & Sarah-AS(10)
