How do you think your child thinks of Santa?

  • "Santa is the guy who brings toys at Christmas"
  • "To be precise, Santa doesn't exist except on an imaginary level"
  • "I don't like Santa cuz his clothes are red and I don't like red things"
  • "I really love Santa cuz he keeps his reindeer in lines!"
  • "Santa is for little kids....I'm too big for that now....but not the presents!"

In our defense tho, we're working with Victor on what is real and what is make believe. His brain knows that Pokemon and Santa and such are make believe however, he'll let it slip every now and again "I see Pokemon" and that concerns the psychiatrist and the teachers that he might not know the difference. So yes, we shattered the illusion, but we did it by saying that once upon a time many many moons ago, there really was a dude named St. Nick, and he really did go around giving good boys and girls gifts, and the parents thought that it was such a cool thing, that

Haley still believes that Santa brings toys every Christmas... although she is outgrowing it I think. She asked me flat out last year if he is real or not. Not sure what to say, I asked her what she thinks. She wanted me to tell her the truth, so I did. Then she didn't believe me. LOL!!

Malcolm also KNOWS that Santa is Mom and Dad, he figured it out a few years ago, BUT he still wants to pretend and if anyone says otherwise, he shushes them up. He will also add a wink wink sometimes when talking about Santa, even though we don't actually HAVE a younger child we have to pretend for...

Nick is still a believer, we even sprinkle "reindeer food" in the front lawn :). However, he is terrified to go see Santa at the mall, will not get his picture taken with him even. A couple of years ago we went on the Cuyahoga Valley railroad Santa Express and when Santa got on the train, he flipped out. I think he enjoys the idea of Santa, the stories and loves to talk about him, asks a ton of questions, movies, etc., but when faced live in person, he runs and hides. I honestly believe he will somewhat be crushed when he finds out the truth someday. We have 1 picture of him with Santa taken at a year and half, he wasnt crying (yet) , but the look on his face...

My 5 yr old daughter believes in Santa still. My 8yr old son last year was hinting that Santa really isn't real. I never confirmed or denied that Santa existed. Asked him is it more enjoyable in believing there is a Santa? He thinks, at least last year, that is was enjoyable to pretend there was a Santa. He hasn't said much this year but I'm pretty sure he doesn't think there is a real Santa out there. I'm sure I'll discover his opinion soon. LOL

Well, I chose the second one, about how he exists on an imaginary level.
