I have ADHD (unofficial) and my DS has a horrible attention span. The only way I have found to increase attention span is to:
Eliminate as many distractions as possible: TV, music, background noise, remove pets, close the curtains if needed.
Try to get him interested and engaged. It is much easier to attend to something you find interesting than something you don't! Try changing things around or relating it back to one of his obsessions. Also try ryhming, singing or playing games with whatever the subject is you are trying to teach. Figure out what methods work for him and pass that on to the teacher.
Facilitate him with staying on task: i.e. sit with him and help him to do it -keep reminding and redirecting. A token rewards system might help a lot here too.
Break big tasks into smaller pieces and present one piece at a time.
Don't exect good attention from a child who is hungry, thirsty, stressed or tired.
