My son (almost 8) had a good time trick-or-treating, but it was an "off" night for him. He would not knock on doors and held his hands up to his ears when people did open their doors. I was holding his candy bag open for him, like you would for a much younger child.

DS was not talking very much at all or saying "Trick-or-Treat" or "Thank-you." He was kind of in his own world. One funny thing did happen. A lady tried to prompt him into saying trick-or-treat. She held the candy bowl back from him and said, "Say trick-or-treat."

DS said in a far away, flat tone, "I'm sorry I don't speak Girl". (that's actually a line from an episode of the Fairly Odd Parents.)

The kids did pretty good this year. Vaughn had a parade and party at school.....did well except when we were leaving the building.....he freaked at the thought of going past the 5th grade classrooms....there were several boys with those Scream mask that had blood pumping through them......he HATES gory things. So I had to hold my hands over his eyes as he clung to me just to get out of the building.

Vaughn was a mad scientist.....lab coat, glasses with fuzzy eyebrows, spiked blue hair and a brain in a jar of red water......he loved it. Jack was cookie monster (his brother's old costume).

DH did the TOT detail and I passed out candy.....we only had about 50-60 kids this year....past years we had double that.....now we are stuck with a boatload of candy
