Hi I'm Nora from Pittsburgh PA. My son Adam is who brings me here. He is 4 1/2 and dx'd with PDD-NOS/ADHD and NOW possibly SID----his OT therepist thru his school called today to discuss Adam's sensory processing and need for a eval and feeding support due to his limited diet---it's been a rough couple of days between that and being informed of more vaccinations that he needs for kindergarten. Sorry that's kinda of topic.......bugging me all day.

Needless to say, this board is awesome I've been here 2yrs now. Adam attends special ed preschool 3x a week, speech 3x per week, OT 1x (possibly 3x)per week, gymnastics, swimming, AND NOW I just enrolled him into a typical preschool in addtion to his special ed school 2x per wk. Yeppers, we are busy.
I'm looking into bio medical treatments and currently on a VERY long list for Pittsburgh's leading DAN doctor. It's been a roller coaster couple years for us. Just taking it one day at a time.

Hi, I am Innie. I have a 5.5yo DS Justin in kindergarten who is PDD-NOS and ADHD. I also have a NT 2.5yo DS Jayden. Justin is in public kindergarten, being evaluated for IEP and additional services like speech, OT, and social skills by the school system. He has been in private speech, OT, and pragmatics for a year now. He is not on any medication currently. His main issues are attention, impulsivity, social skills deficits, fine motor control, and picky eating habits (ie, will not eat ANY vegetables). He also has severe astigmatism that resulted in amblyopia ("lazy eye") so I patch alternate eyes everyday to strengthen his visual nerves. That has shown remarkable progress, so he is almost 20/20 with corrective lenses now. Jayden, NT, is slightly speech-delayed so he is in speech via the state early intervention program. We (including my DH/their daddy) live in San Mateo, CA (30 minutes south of San Francisco). Since the beginning of this year, Justin's behavior has improved significantly and I am hoping he continues with that trend. Although life with my DSs can be a challenge, they are so affectionate and adorable. I love being their mommy.

Im Rashonta, and Im from San Antonio Tx. Originally from Hershey Pa. My Dh (Ryan) and I have known eachother since we were two. We just moved back to Tx after attending college in Knoxville Tn. We bought our first house a little over a year ago.

Ds (Tyler) will be 3 in July and hasnt yet been diagnosed with anything but they are leaning towards AS if his hearing test comes back normal. Tyler is involved with EI and also a therapeutics horse riding program.

Dh is a police officer, and I work for a shelter for abused children.

Im here because, after all the moving and being young (dh and i are 22, 23 this year) all of our friends are still in the party stage of life, and I really dont have anyone to truly talk to, and very little people will listen to me about DS' problems. And of course at times its hard on all three of us, with DS not talking.

Hello All.

well after reading all these I am feeling like an old lady again, lol.

I live in sunny So. Cal and love to tease you cold climate folks at this time of year, hehe.

I have 4 kiddos total. Cait and Mike both have autism spectrum disorder. Cait also has epilepsy and currently we are trying to figure out what else (as in Multiple Sclerosis, lead poisoning, etc)

Basically I just consider the kids ASD since they have been dx'ed with just about everything that goes with the autism spectrum at some point. It is all part and parcel to who they are.

Cait is in 8th grade this year in a full inclusion special day class program. She is fully included for all academics with a shared aide and other supports. She gets about C's that way. She volunteers for a theraputic riding program where she has been riding since she was 6. She loves the theater and plays clarinet in band. She has been in special education since she was 3 and is doing absolutely marvelously and we are proud of how far she has come.

Mike is 6th grade and turns 12 in a couple weeks. He is in a non-public (ie private) school for kids with special needs. It is funded by the district because there were no appropriate placements in our district. It is a great school and there are 6 kids in the middle school class. The school goes swimming every 2 weeks and theraputic riding every week. Mike was just invited to put on a riding demonstration for a bunch of dignitaries coming to the school this week. He also has been in special education since preschool and one awesome dude.

Emily and Dave are my mostly typicals though both have sensory needs and other such diagnosticy things.

My DH and I are both special education teachers who specialize in autism (and did prior to kids actually). I teach a preschool reverse mainstream class for kids with autism and DH is an autism specialist.

It's all in the family, lol.
