Hi gals!!
We took Nick to a Monster Jam show in Toledo last night at the Speedway. Included with our ticket price was a Party in the Pit, meet-n-greet with the driver's of the trucks from 5-6 pm. Nick was terrified, completely froze up for the first 30 minutes so I walked around, stood in line and got autographs and pics of the drivers with their trucks. I had told them I had a little boy who was terrified, they were so nice and said if I could get him over, they would make him feel comfortable. Well Daddy bought him a Superman Monster truck pennant and that shook him out of his terror phase and all of a sudden he wanted autographs! True to Nick, he even told them where to sign on the pennant :). We flew through the lines and he was chatty cathy with the drivers! I got pictures of him with everyone and he was so confident and excited to meet them all, but you could still see the anxiety in him, his body was tense, he was swaying, and his little hands were doing a mini-flap :). The show was awesome, it was outdoors, the weather was beautiful. Of course the stimulation for Nick was huge, the noise (even with protective headphones), the people, the food (too much), but he had a blast. He listened great, didnt meltdown once, although came close a couple of times. His frustration level stayed pretty low, we had alot fun! Unfortunately at about midnight he woke up crying and threw up everything he had eaten that evening, the bed and bathroom were a mess, he was crying for Heidi (our dog). I felt awful for him :(. Too much of a good thing I guess!
We were so proud of him though, for him to come out of that initial fear of the drivers and go up and talk to them, they were so nice to him. They got down on his level and really talked to him. So down to earth. Monster Jam drivers are the best! I am going to post pics later on, but just had to post my brag! This was a big step for my big man!
