Humor: he's discovered commercials!

We have a new source for delayed echolalia in our house: tv commercials. It's actually creating quite a bit of laughter for me and DH, so I guess that's ok. But it may get old.
Most of DS's echoing has been related to Pixar movie lines or Thomas the Tank shows. We always limited "real" tv--just stuck to kid's channels that don't have commercials. Well, Eric has taken an interest in "Animal Afternoons" and some shows on Discovery and Nick Jr. These channels have commercials.
He is fascinated by commercials for cleaning, fix-it items, gadgety kind of things. I think, no, I know, he literally believes all the claims. It's a whole new world for him.
Can I tell you many times I have heard, "Mom, you need Oxyclean!"
LOL!
Katherine

Just wait until it's the whole commercial and not just a line or two.

It's so funny because Chris does that still.... runs to me and says I have to buy Cheer! It will get your whole laundry fresh and spring mountain clean!!!
When he first started doing it when he was little, I thought it was odd, but really never paid attention to it. I just thought wow look how innocent he is. He is guilable like his momma lol.
Nic does it too sigh... lol
Hi!
Nick LOVES commercials too, and these are the commercials that they show in between Magic School Bus, kids shows, etc.

I feel for you. It is funny in the beginning, and actually it's still pretty funny on some things. When she told me I needed a wrinkle cream though, that wasn't funny. She was able to tell me all about it word for word. When I told her that some might think she was being mean, she said that the lady in the commercial was beautiful. It was sweet.
I can usually tell when it's going to be a particularly Aspie day because she sings jingles in the shower. Right now it's the Nationwide jingle, but we still occasionally get the McDonald's "I'm Lovin' It."
Christine,
I love the photo, btw!
Yes, he wants the bedazzler too! And there is some gadget, I can't remember the name, that makes these little dumpling looking things that you can fill with whatever you want. He seems to think that is cool also.
Eric also repeats back websites. And now he has started requesting to look for them online. To my horror!
Katherine
I forgot about the websites!
My kids were talking amongst themselves about some product they say on TV. And Siobhan kept asking Peter "What's the website?" And he would repeat the product name, not the website addy.
Finally

Christine,
The cake decorating set is on my kids' list of 'must-haves' for me. Nevermind that I don't bake at all.

oooooohhhhhh don't forget the chocolate fondue/candy maker! It's always a must have in our house lol.
And if I hear the McDonalds Jingle one more time...... I'm gonna loose it man lol.
Oh sure...it'll be cute, for a while. LOL Just wait until he starts quoting the Proactive commercial and kindly "suggests" you need it for your pimples. UGH!
