I don't much care for our children" (quote by Katherine Hepburn in Lion in Winter)

This has been John's and My pet line for this week said in secret complete with Katherine accent. All we have to do is start with "I have a confession to make...." and the other starts cracking up. Usually when they are acting particularly difficult. SOmetimes you have to laugh or you will cry. They (particularly the boy) have not been on thier best behavior. We got the "My! You have your hands full." comment at church today. To which my husband says "This is only 1/2 of them". (He got that line from ME!)Ok so all 4 are there, but we tend to be a bit snarky with strangers when they start that stuff. Like I said, you gotta laugh.

Just thought I would share

Val,

No. She didn't try to touch him. (I'd have punched her). She was trying to reason with him. "Oooh! You're a big yin. You're too big to be behaving like this. Now get up off the floor and go help your mother.... etc etc."

...and this was before his language kicked in.

I'm sorry this break is tough on you. We have been having fun with sleep patterns here, too -DH is sick and I am on meds, so both adults are pretty burnt right now.

I will be glad to get back into routine.

Well, things haven't been too bad this winter break. Nathan is stimmy, obsessive, echolalia is back....but not many outbursts, so that's nice. Dh is doing ok, having immense problems picking up after himself though. I suggested yesterday, that we put wheels on all of his things, so that they could put themselves away. He basically said, " you think you're funny, huh?" And then walked away. LOL Today, I'm still picking up his things.....

Yesterday, I made the mistake of saying something....that Nathan decided to repeat. He doesn't usually do this, but he's been repeating EVERYTHING lately. Anyway, I was upset at Tyler (the boy won't stop talking)...so I said to him, "bite me".....ok, not great words from a mom. Tyler laughed, thought I was funny. Then Nathan repeated it...A FEW TIMES. Tyler laughing hysterically, made Nathan think that this was a funny thing to say!!!!!!! I'm just glad we were home....alone. Dh doesn't know. But I'm sure Tyler will tell him, he can't keep his mouth closed for nothing!!!!! When's that surgery???

"He's half Scottish"......too good! Mine is half German...can you say stubborn? I saw a bumper sticker the other day that makes me think of him...it read....I'm not a grumpy German, I'm a sour Kraut.

Hang in there Paula!

Yup, you people are all very, very funny. I personally am deeply loving the "little yellow bus" ditty, and I will be passing that one on to a few hundred "yellow bus" parents I know here in Noo Yawk City. You'll be hearing it sung under someone's breath out here any day now!!!
