I bought The Social Skills Picture Book for Weston, in hopes that we might get the school to use it to help him to reinforce what we're teaching at home. DH and I both read through it and thought we'd be able to get him to participate more if he helped "teach" himself. So... we gathered his siblings and read the rules that we were going to teach and practice. Then, he got to direct them on how to do the appropriate social skill. Power for Weston can be a BAD thing! LOL!
Anyway, I do think that maybe this will stick in his head more because he's having to act the new rule out (right now we're working on rules he already knows but needs reinforcement on) and he's having to communicate this rule (mostly reading it) to his siblings.
We did have some attitude problems from the older 2-- but we decided it would be good sensitivity training for them.
We might need to add "don't be the rule police" quickly though! LOL!

oh, sounds like youre having fun-My one big thing that Jake does is try and be katies "Daddy". He will try to enforce everything..I have to remind him that he isnt her Daddy and that I am capable of the enforcing! Good luck!

ROFLMAO!!!! (Only cause I sympathize). Unless you live with "the rule police" you really would think that a kid who really was into following the rules would be a GOOD thing!
Mike is SOOOO into rules he refuses to take the wine at mass because he is not yet 21! Even though I have tried to teach him and talk to him a million times about how it is ok at church, it isn't really wine anymore, it is only a sip, yada yada it is a NO GO! We have lots of little kids with ASD of various types at church and Mike is the ONLY one who does this, lol.
There are good points though! Once he learned that the F-word was worse than the "D-A-dash-dash" word he has never said it since and I don't think he ever will.
However, it is a bit of a problem when it comes to lording over the sibs. Dave was having a bit of a time of it getting out of my car on Friday. It was pajama day and not all the other kids were wearing pj's. Dave thought perhaps his class wasn't and didn't want to get out. Mike was ALL upset and nearly lost it there in front of the school because we have to get out and go to school. OYE! kids.
Laughing with you.

Betsy,
It's good that he's getting it, and great that his sibs are playing along.
