(((Molly))) I'm sorry things didn't go well. I'm not sure any of us are made for the whole IEP battle, but going to bat for our kids is worth it. Sorry, the principal and K teacher aren't easier to deal with. Passing you some cyber chocolate and drink of your choice!
I can totally understand. But I have found that the IEP process is a learning process for the parent in itself. You are at the kindergarten level and you had Renee with you which helped.
But what will happen though Kindergarten for many of our kids was easy. But as they get older the work gets harder and so do the social requirements. So the more subtle stuff we see in our kids are not so evident in other peopl who are looking.
You can be assured that you did absolutely everything in your power to make that meeting go the way you wanted it to go, and in the end, the other side just weren't going to budge. I mean, you had Renee, for crying out loud! If they aren't going to roll for her, they are not rolling at all.
I know a new set of obs is a total PITA. I just hope it goes quickly and smoothly and they will get to
Yeah, it was a pain but the psych was CHA (covering his ....). He doesn't want to override another district psych without his own assessment and if it came down to a legal thing in the future he definitely was right on that account.
However, like I told Molly, they knew way IN ADVANCE that this was an issue that was going to be brought up. Seems to me that if the psych knew he wanted to do some additional checklists and observations he could have either sent home a assessment plan to sign in advance and had it done or he could have had one already filled out at the meeting.
It seems like they definitely agree and this psych may be more likely to have a brain but it is flippin red tape and beauracracy and waiting again.
There were a number of other IEP and educational issues that need to be addressed as well so there does need to be another meeting anyway.
If nothing else it is a lesson in patience this darn IEP stuff.

Man I am so disappointed for you. :(
