IEP tomorrow AM....
7
Sun, 04-18-2010 - 2:15pm

and I am so freaking nervous. This is I think our 3rd or maybe even 4th...since I refused to sign one time and they had to have another one.

I have no clue what to expect. It's going to be me and a million freaking other people. All of them and me. I really could throw up because of this. Maybe I will beg my mom to go with me. Safety in numbers....this one really counts...this is kindy...not preschool. This is the beginning...

Please send out some prayers that Gabe gets the services he needs. And that I don't flip a gasket and go all crazy on their arses.

If your Mom will come let her. Yes numbers can help for the initially stressful one.

Remember, even within weeks of kindy it's not what you thought you have the right to call another IEP.

((((HUGS))))) And welcome to K-12;)

You can do it! Remember that you are there to advocate for Gabe. You are literally fighting for your child, so don't be shy about being his voice and asking for what he needs. My husband used to say things like "I don't want to take something away from another kid, who might need it more". But that's not how the system works: they need to provide the level of services required for EVERY child who needs it.

But do bring your mom if possible, A bit of moral support can go a long way.

Yunno Peter's IEP for Kindy was decided in March or April. Then in (mid)August, the teacher who was working with him at home suggested that the placement we had decided back then was no longer suitable; -he had made huge developmental leaps and no longer needed a special school (because that was what the IEP said back then; a very restrictive placement).

Several phone calls later his entire placement was changed. So I know that decisions made -while important- now are NOT set in stone.

Jessie: If I know you at all -and I thnk I do: You will be FINE.

...and if not, I will send The Lads ;)

Thanks guys....My mom can't go :-( But Matt gave me some of his soul to protect me and give me courage. I feel like I doing a violin solo without once ounce of practice. I slept like poop last night....but I did manage to make a list of concerns and questions.

I'll post later how it went. It's at 0830...

Thanks for the encouraging words...and words of wisdom. It's helping...some.

And Paula...I'll let you know if I need the lads!!

No way! He was texting during your meeting? How rude! I would have interupted whoever was speaking and asked that they all please wait for Mr. Arse to finish his important conversation. Wouldn't want him to miss anything.
