IEP update and YUCKY day

Poor Mike, no clue what set if off (well some clues actually but he reacted more than usual). He completely shut down this AM and was totally non-compliant through his social skills and music therapy group. Then was growling at the jog-a-thon, was better for about 15 minutes then totally shut down again for the remainder of the morning. At least he didn't explode. Seems his new thing is to shut down rather than to hit which is good but he is a stressed wee dude.

Anyway, had the IEP. I took advice here and other places. We just discontinued the entire BIP and wrote a new behavior support plan based on what we are currently implementing. They are only sending to the new non-public school his current information and the rest is kept at the district office (other copies will be shredded). So it shouldn't really follow him and I can put the kabash on it if it does (right sara, lol).

We have accepted the non-public officially as the FAPE offer and they offered ESY in addition to a transition of a few days with the aide to his new program for ESY. I doubt the aide would go in the summer anyway and I think if for just 3 days, I will make the transition with him and let him separate from the aide at the end of this school year.

There is some new school the autism co-teacher wants me to apply to for Mike. She says they are going to have lots of those aspie type kids there and they are working on putting in supports (a program similar to Cait's) but don't know what those supports look like yet. I told her I would but I doubt I will. I don't want to rock the boat at this time. He is going to do well at the country school and then I will look to that program to transition him into when he goes back into public school. No way I can prep him for that program when they haven't even finished building it yet and we don't know what the supports will be.

That's it in a nutshell.
