If We'd Known Back Then...

Hi gals!
We were going through some CD's of pictures and came across the attached picture that was taken when Nick was probably around 2, maybe 2 1/2ish. Funny thinking about this, how if I had the knowledge then that I do now, how quickly I would be hauling him into the dev ped office! The Thomas Trains, Matchbox cars, etc. No, this isn't a guilt trip, but it is one of those things that sort of makes you go crap, it was really there, BUT he hit his milestones (except for talking), but these were just quirks in our book. I have another picture somewhere where he had taken the cushions off the couch and lined up his matchbox cars on the couch right at the edge in a perfect line, all facing in the same direction. It was funny Nick saw the pic and I asked him what he was doing and he right away said lining up cars. He can't explain yet why he does it. I also asked him if he knew where the picture was taken and again, right away he said Grandmas house. I figured he would recognize the gate, but no, he said he recognized the matchbox cars. He said he doesnt have those cars, that Grandma did. I was pretty blown away by that. This was at least 3 years ago! I can walk into his room and at least every other day, he has his monster trucks lined up in a different pattern. I can put them in the bin and they are out again. Its like the Gremlins come in the middle of the night or something :). I guess I am rambling here. Just random thoughts sometimes. Thanks for listening.

Funny, my guy used to line his things up end to end so he could see all the wheels in one big line.
We thought the same thing recently,as we were reading through some old Christmas letters we'd written. Over the years we talked about the kids' eating sensitivities, their motor skills difficulties, their early academic skills, etc. I guess I should have been sending the letters to the doctor, and maybe we would have known sooner what was going on!
I still think the kids are awfully cute when they're so little and innocent like your ds in the picture! It's nice that we didn't have to worry about therapies, etc., at that age and could just enjoy their sweetness!
Sigh....
My grandson is starting to line up.
