WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is the cause of this joy? Volunteering in Mike's mainstream class today!!!! I am getting choked up again.
I have not been able to volunteer in a mainstream class in 2 years. Last time I did, Mike had to be escorted out and was bodyslamming into the concrete. (beginning 3rd grade). Prior to that in 2nd grade in the good placement, he had to sit away from the group (couldn't handle being in it for sensory reasons) and would either do independent work, make noises and look very different (on good days) or well, there were the bad days. In the bad placement he was chewing his shoes, spinning on the floor and getting in trouble. In first grade kids used to say things to me like "Mike gets angry easy doesn't he?", "Mike is kind of different", or from the one little mother hen "Mike had a good day today Mrs. B" (that kid nearly broke my heart). In short he never blended in. He always looked different and often there were problems.
Wanna know why I am SOOOOOOO excited. Today Mike looked like A FIFTH GRADER!!!!!! He blended in. 2 times I saw his aide have to redirect him but it was minor. Once he was kind of stimming with his pencil and doing a weird visual thing and had to be redirected back to work but that WAS IT! He was even working with another kid on a project!!!!! All his homework was turned it. He paid attention, answered questions.
DAMN, getting choked up again. i am such a wuss!
Celebrate good times come on!
Oh and Cait's teacher called me today and was very nice. I think we have worked out a compromise and they are going to have the new psych redo the report part with more detail and such. It was more than that but brain isn't functional.

Wow, that sounds really fantastic! Do you think this particular class/teacher is a good match for him, and that's why things are going so well? Let's hope so! Way to go, Mike!

Renee, Renee,

Seems unattainable here, sigh...

Thanks Guys!
Well I talked to his aide after school and he did have a couple rough spots today but he turned it around and controlled himself which is also way way cool. I guess he was getting frustrated and started growling and such but got it under control pretty quick.
We were both commenting on what amazing progress he has made. YEAH! Lets hope it sticks!
