I'm proud of myself and DS

Okay, here's why I'm proud of ME, and this has nothing to do with having a kid with Asperger's other that the mere fact that he let me do it: I just finished knitting my very first sweater. Actually, it's a very simple short-sleeved top. My first completed piece of handmade clothing of any kind (except the horrific apron I got a D on in Mrs. Dundas's home ec class twenty-six years ago). Basically my first finished project of any kind. LOL!
Now here's why I'm proud of David: I put it on and stood in the room, waiting to see if anyone noticed. Lo and behold, my 7 year old AS child, who was playing Legos, looked up and...dun da DUNNNNN...NOTICED!!! He not only noticed, but he stopped what he was doing, and gave a beautiful smile. It was a smile that said, "Wow, Mom, you did it!" He came close and noticed the seed stitch pattern on the front, and told me it was really awesome. I just get all teary thinking about it. I mean, he clearly CARED that I had created this thing. He was proud of me. Wow! And it wasn't about him or his desires/needs. His big, bright smile and kind words were for me and my accomplishment.
That was really cool! BTW, the top is pretty nice, although I think the back panel is a bit too short, and the neck hole is too big. LOL! The green/blue/brown yarn is gorgeous on me, though, if I do say so myself. ; I'm thinking of unstitching the sides, adding a few more rows, and doing it up again, sewing up the simple neck hole a bit. I've got to be able to show it to my mom, who is a 50-year knitting veteran!
Oh, no! It's way past midnight AGAIN. Gotta go.

Evelyn,
Way Cool! Congratulations on the sweater and the loving words from David. That is a lovely moment you describe with your sweet son. Can you post a photo of you in the pretty sweater?

That's so cool! I've always wished I could knit. And great job David! How sweet of him to notice. And I know what you mean about how a look and a smile mean so much more than words.
Enjoy the memory of this.

Evelyn,
WOW!! That's wonderful!! My mom is a seamstress, and I can't sew or knit ANYTHING!!! Isn't it great when our kids surprise us like that?? Great job, David!!!
